....Size: X 10 Aphids
live in colonies where males are usually rare or absent, & the females often
produce live young. When conditions become crowded, the aphids become
restless, their body size & fertility decreases & more winged forms are
produced so that they can migrate to start new colonies. Some species of
aphids are notorious vectors of viruses. Aphids prefer cooler weather, in
the sub tropics they are most common in the Spring & Autumn. Their
natural enemies are usually very effective & they include Ladybirds &
their larvae & the larvae of Lace Wings. Ants may exacerbate aphid
problems. Ants remove from the site of the aphids their excretion commonly
called honey dew. The colour of aphids range from green, brown, red &
near black.

Cotton Bugs Cotton Bug
Size: X 1.5 Many species of Bugs attack Hibiscus
buds & growing tips by sucking nutrients from within & this is a
major cause of bud drop in Hibiscus. The affected bud changes to
lighter green nearing yellow before it reaches the stage of calyx split
showing petal colour & abscises from the plant.
